Islamic Scholars
The term Ulama is a plural word from "alim" which means one who knows or one who has knowledge. In the dictionary Munjid al-Tullab defines a scholar as a person who is knowledgeable. Scholars in the Malay world have a great role in the spiritual construction of the local community to be applied in daily life. Their role is not only involved in religious teaching but they also have a big role in managing the state administration which is closely related to Islam.
