The Digitization Project of Malcolm MacDonald Collection The Digitization Project of Malcolm MacDonald Collection aims to trace documents related to important events in Malaysia's pre and post-independence history and subsequently digitize them. The project is divided into two: the digitization of documents from Sir Malcolm MacDonald Collection available at the University of Durham, United Kingdom (UK), and the digitization of documents on the Malayan Union from The National Archives (TNA), UK. Sir Malcolm MacDonald was the Commissioner-General of Southeast Asia from 1948 to 1955. He collected many historical documents of the countries he visited and has them his personal collection. The collection was eventually kept at Durham University. A total of 30,000 pages of documents were submitted to Universiti Sultan Zainal Abdidin (UniSZA) in a ceremony at Durham University in July 2019. The ceremony was attended by the Vice-Chancellor of UniSZA, Prof. Datuk Dr. Hassan Basri Awang Mat Dahan and Durham University Vice-Chancellor, Prof Stuart Corbridge. UniSZA received documents related to the Malayan Union totaling 24,724 sheets from TNA in July 2021. Hopefully, this project will facilitate Malaysian historians to make references and open many more research opportunities related to national history.
