About us

The Ministry of Education Malaysia has entrusted Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) with the responsibility of implementing the Digitalization Project of Islamic Manuscripts and the Malay World. UniSZA has welcomed this initiative by taking the lead in digitizing the entire collection of Islamic and Malay manuscripts for the purposes of preservation, dissemination, and sustainability, ensuring benefits for both the present and future generations.

UniSZA has formalized this commitment by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the National Archives, Durham University (United Kingdom), and the Terengganu Museum as a serious step towards becoming a reference university for digital manuscripts.

The Institute of Research on Islamic Malay Civilization and Products (INSPIRE) at UniSZA, led by Prof. Dato’ Dr. Fadzli bin Adam (Vice Chancellor UniSZA), has been entrusted with spearheading the UniSZA Manuscript Digitalization Project.

This project is expected to make a significant contribution to the nation and the Malay world, in particular, while providing great benefits to both current and future generations.
